Consumer Law
At Roach Pittis, we understand how frustrating it can be when a financial product, service, or contract doesn’t live up to expectations, especially when it's tied up in complex legal terms or hidden charges. That’s why our Consumer Law team is here to provide clear, expert advice that helps you take back control.
Our team has in-depth experience dealing with disputes involving lenders, brokers, and retailers. We regularly act for clients affected by:
Hidden or secret broker commissions, particularly in motor finance and mortgage lending
Disputes under the Consumer Rights Act 2015
Disputes under the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 relating to distance selling.
Claims under the Consumer Credit Act 1974, including Section 75 refund claims
Unenforceable credit agreements or unfair relationships under the Consumer Credit Act 1974
Defective goods or services bought with or without credit
Building disputes between consumers and traders
Inaccurate credit file data and adverse entries that should be removed
We regularly advise consumers in disputes relating to caravans purchased on holiday parks. We deal with a broad spectrum of issues, including defective products, credit disputes, contractual disputes involving licence agreements, and general disputes which arise between consumers and holiday park owners.
We also advise on unfair contract terms, whether they fall under the older Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999 or more recent protections in the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If a term is judged to be unfair, it does not bind the consumer; it can be removed from the agreement, giving you stronger grounds to challenge the contract.
Whether you’re dealing with an unfair loan, a defective product, or hidden charges you didn’t agree to, Roach Pittis is here to help. Our consumer law advice is practical, impartial, and focused on getting the best result for you.
Our consumer law team is led by Lee Peckham, Director and Head of Litigation at Roach Pittis. He is supported by Paul Tilley, a specialist in a wide range of consumer law matters.
